July 2010

Fired from my position in Internal Audit at Waste Management.

September 2012

Started divorce, closed the store, and decided to visit a friend who was living in South Korea for her husband’s job. Within the first month, I got a job working at a bar and started dating someone who encouraged me to stay longer. I then picked up a part-time job teaching English.

2014

Traveled to Austin, stayed in an Airbnb, and was inspired to start an Airbnb cleaning and property management business. I wanted a home to return to when I traveled and a partner company to manage my property and host guests in my absence.

2015

Bought the domain bnbcleaners.com but didn’t take action on it for a year.

End of 2016

Built a drag-and-drop website over a weekend, published it, and posted an ad on Craigslist. I secured my first two Airbnb cleaning clients that weekend, and one of them is still with us today!

End of 2017

Expanded to Dallas, Houston, and Austin, managing a total of 101 units.

2018

Got married, became pregnant, and saw my business make $500,000 in its second year.

2020

Started a new partnership with a Dallas client managing 99 units.

October 2010 – August 2012

Opened my first retail business selling wedding dresses.

Summer 2014

Finished teaching and spent six months traveling Asia and Europe solo, taking advantage of my newfound freedom and focusing on self-discovery.

2015

This was a blur. I was essentially homeless, bouncing from sofa to sofa and trying to figure out where to live and what to do. I did odd jobs to make ends meet but never borrowed money—just needed a place to sleep each night.

2016

Cashed out my 401(k), rented a low-cost apartment with six months’ cash upfront since I didn’t have a job, bought a used car, and entered a pitch competition for a travel app idea. That’s where I met my first mentor, who recognized my “side gig” of cleaning Airbnbs as a potential full-fledged business. I was desperate for financial stability, so I took the leap.

2017

Committed myself fully to making Hostkeyper a trusted brand for short-term rental cleaning and property management. I mostly worked solo and handled around 30 cleanings per month.

October 2017

Met my boyfriend—now husband and business partner.

2019

Gave birth and expanded the business into San Antonio with 64 units.

2021 – 2023

Took a step back as the business became self-sustaining, allowing me to travel and explore new ventures.
